a little break...

Hi friends!  I promise I haven't forgotten about you.

This has been one crrraaaaazy week.  Short, (relatively) non-dramatic version?  We found out our apartment has had mold growing under it and has been coming up through our floors and making me sick, which I found out from the doctor is because I'm super allergic to mold and have contracted allergic asthma.  Sooooo after fighting with our landlord who didn't even tell us about the mold to begin with and thinks I'm just a sickling, we were able to break the lease.  Then we scrambled and amazingly found a great place in two days and now we're packing up to move to the new place this weekend. Ohhh, and I quit my job that I was so fond of.

Whew, that's a lotta change in one week!  Anyways, I promise to get back to sharing awesome yumminess with you as soon as I can.  And by awesome yumminess, I mean Christmas yumminess.  Get exciiiited!

Have a great weekend and do me a favor and root for my Dawgs in the SEC Championship tomorrow!

  1. I can totally relate... trying to sell my house, get hired for a post-Army job, and moving somewhere (who KNOWS where) in the next 6 months is overwhelming me! I'm trying not to stress out! This trip to Hawaii is finally a reality and a much-needed escape.

  2. Glad you are out of that lease, not worth living there. Makes you wonder what else the landlord did not tell you...Good luck with the move to a better place and settling in! Changes can definitely be a good thing and life is too short to be in a downer job.
I am looking forward to seeing some festive delicious posts from you! Enjoy the weekend in your new place.

  4. Hey Aubrey- you have such an exciting time waiting for you, but the prep work to get there is definitely overwhelming. I know that everything will work out for the best! Have an awesome time in Hawaii :D

  5. Thanks so much Tina! I definitely agree with you about life being too short to waste it in a bad job. It took me awhile to realize that and accept it, but now that I'm leaving, I couldn't be more excited! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

  7. Oh geez, mold is very very very bad. I'm so surprised your landlord was that difficult about it. He/she could've gotten some kind of lawsuit!! Also, I completely understand you about your job. I've been at mine for 2.5 years & it's my first job out of college. While it's a great, stable job (government worker here), it's not what I'm really passionate about. I'm passionate about web developing & blogging..too bad it's hard for those worlds to collide unless I freelance & blog at home..but given where I live (DC), it's very hard to do that since it's such a high cost of living here (I'm sure Cali is the same!). Anyway, just wanted to drop by to say I know how you feel & I hope things get better :)

  8. Hey Julie! Yes, we could have sued him which is why I think he finally let us out of the lease. This job was my first job out of college too & while I'm grateful for the work experience, it's just time to move on (not to mention a billion other reasons!). I'm sorry that you're in a less than ideal situation but hopefully you'll be able to do what you love soon! I'm hoping I can find a job baking and doing what I love :) Thanks so much for stopping by & hang in there!
